LEUKEMIA: INTRODUCTION

Acute leukemia is the uncontrolled growth of cells or hematopoietic stem cells (blood forming), unable to mature properly, that come to invade most or all of the bone marrow, after which they reach the peripheral blood, and Sometimes extrahemáticos outbreaks occur in one or more organs in the body, which behave like tumors.

Pancreatic Cancer

In the United States are diagnosed each year 29,000 new cases of pancreatic cancer each year, a disease that ranks fifth in cancer mortality throughout the world. This is one of the types of tumors more difficult to diagnose because the symptoms usually appear when the disease is already in an advanced stage too. In addition, the location of this gland prevents smaller tumors are detected during routine reviews.

The pancreas is a gland located in the abdomen between the stomach and the spine, and close to other organs such as intestine or liver. With its distinctive pear-shaped, the pancreas is responsible for producing insulin and other hormones, which reach the bloodstream and circulate throughout the body in order to use or to accumulate below the energy from food. Moreover, this gland also secretes pancreatic juices, which contain enzymes necessary to digest food.

Pancreatic tumors can be divided into two major groups according to their nature, benign or malignant. The former are not cancer, and surgeons can remove without any problems. In fact, in most cases not to reappear again after the operation, and the cells of these tumors usually do not spread beyond its original location. In the case of malignant tumors, the gravity is higher, and the risk to the patient’s life increases. Malignant cells can invade and damage surrounding tissues, leading to ’slip’ into the bloodstream and even the lymphatic system. This, in charge of the body’s defense is that diseased cells used as a means of transportation to travel from the tumor to other parts of the body.

This expansion is known as metastasis. When diseased cells reach the lymph nodes, which produce white blood cells (cells or defensive), the disease is easily reach other nodes and tissues, such as the liver or the lungs (known as distant metastases). In other cases, the disease spreads to the peritoneum, the tissue that lines the abdomen in these cases is considered that the extension is local.

There is a type of extremely rare pancreatic cancer that begins in cells that produce insulin and other hormones, which takes its name, the cancer cells of pancreatic islets. In these cases, the body produces too much insulin.

Causa of Hodgkin Lymphoma

The disease is more common in men than in women. Affects young adults (it is very common from 15 to 34) and adults older than 55 years.

The cause is unknown although it is believed that the Epstein-Barr virus, which causes an infection called infectious mononucleosis, is related to the disease. Although 50% of patients tested is the presence of this virus.

Hodgkin’s Lymphoma: Introduction

Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a type of cancer that originates in the lymphatic system.

The lymphatic system consists of a series of vessels that travel throughout the body and by as few nodes that are collectors.

Lymph nodes are like tiny pouches (or cluster of grapes) that are found in different parts of the body, in areas like the neck, armpits, the English, chest, abdomen and pelvis.
